There are many different types of equipment that are used in Airsoft. Some of the most common types include the gun, safety goggles and all kinds of tactical gear, which includes vests, equipment holders and gun accessories.
First of all, you need to know about the guns. They include spring, electric and gas-powered ones. You will want to select a gun based upon its battery life, range, magazine capacity and realism. There are also guns that are designed for longer ranges than normal.
Secondly, you may wish to get some grenades and launchers. These are explosive devices that are powered by gas. You should know that hand grenades have a lot of faults and so they are not as popular or common as grenade launchers. These are rarely used in casual play.
Third, you are going to need to have Airsoft projectiles or pellets. Usually these are made out of plastic and do not weigh very much, usually between .12 and .25 grams. There are some heavier rounds but these are used for sniping. Oftentimes these are called BBs even though the BB gun is an entirely different type of gun. Airsoft BBs will cost you between $3.50 for 2,000 of them to $16 for 10,000 of them.
Fourth, you are going to need some special clothing. You will need to wear military camouflage pants and shirts or jackets when playing. This will aid in your concealment from adversaries. These clothes can usually be purchased at a military surplus store.
Fifth, there is tactical gear that you will need. This clothing and its accessories will add an extra element of realism to the game. The accessories include such things as spare magazines, water, food and other such equipment but the most common accessories are holsters and load bearing vests as well as military-style helmets.
Pyrotechnics can also be used at some Airsoft sites. These are small explosive-driven replicas of things like grenades. They include pellet grenades, smoke grenades and flashbangs or thunderflashes.
Of course, there is still a lot of other equipment that you can use. Most of these things can be found at military surplus stores. However, you can also purchase equipment that has been used by a soldier or private military contractor. These things consist of scopes, flashlights, picatinny rails and holsters. They are generally used for increasing combat efficiency, but they can also be used to provide enhanced realism while playing the Airsoft game.
